How to reach us
Plane : Airport: 10 km (6 miles) from Florence (“Amerigo Vespucci”) Airport.
Train : Station: 700 metres from Santa Maria Novella train station.
Car : Motorway: 14 km (9 miles) from the A1 motorway
From the A1 motorway, take the ‘Firenze Impruneta’ exit, then follow the signs for ‘Firenze Centro’ and then for ‘Porta Romana’, where you will see an archway, which is one of the old city gates. Pass through the archway and then continue straight along Via Romana, which at a certain point becomes Via Maggio.
On reaching the bridge, turn left onto Lungarno Guicciardini and then, on the right, cross the bridge called Ponte alla Carraia.
On reaching Piazza Goldoni, take the third road on the right (Via della Vigna Nuova), cross Via Tornabuoni, and the first road that you come to on your left will be Via dei Pescioni, which is the street that the hotel is on.
The street, however, is a one-way, so don’t go down it; rather, take a left down the next street along (Via dei Vecchietti), then turn left immediately on the first road you come to (Via del Campidoglio), and finally left again into Via dei Pescioni. The hotel is located a few yards down, on your left.

History
A 19th-century palazzo in the heart of Florence
Since the late 19th century, Hotel Helvetia & Bristol has been offering travellers from around the world a luxury bolt-hole in the heart of Florence. Staying at this historic palazzo, you can breathe in the heady atmosphere of the Renaissance – an ambience that was part-and-parcel of the journeys made to Italy by the international élite, and was nowhere more evident than at the get-togethers of the literati in our very own Winter Garden.
These, then, are high-class surroundings, and accordingly they have been the destination of choice for such illustrious Italian names as physicist Enrico Fermi, poets Eugenio Montale and Gabriele D’Annunzio, playwright Luigi Pirandello and actress Eleonora Duse, who chose the hotel as her Florentine residence for extended periods.
Elegance
Here, where art and history meet
Thanks to the legendary Florentine panorama, which provides the ever-stunning backdrop, with the timeless beauty of Brunelleschi's dome in the distance, Hotel Helvetia & Bristol is the perfect embodiment of the city that is known as the cradle of the Renaissance.
In this historic environment, you can experience first-hand the luxury of a warm welcome, the cordial, familiar atmosphere of a private residence, and the exclusivity of spaces rich in art and history.
Just a short stroll from Florence's famed Duomo (Cathedral), you will find an array of rooms and suites, each one different but all laden with evocative works of art, precious fabrics and fine furniture. The same elegant, opulent atmosphere fills the public areas, our Hostaria Bibendum Restaurant and our classically styled bar.
All around, the streets and squares epitomise Italy's ability to renew itself through art and culture, with this city serving as the epicentre of its re-birth.
