From brunch to cycling in a mine
Slovenia is a magnificent, green and diverse country. It is a country that also hides its natural beauty beneath the ground. Numerous Karst caves with mesmerising stalactites and stalagmites, mines transformed into museums and cycling paths, and wine cellars that preserve the several centuries old winemaking tradition that knows how to ripen each grape to perfection. Every corner of the country also offers food and beverages that let you experience Slovenia as we, the locals, know it.
Mining has a rich tradition in Slovenia. The nations' foundations were built on the mined coal and other minerals that facilitated progress through the centuries. Today, these are giving way to newer and more environmentally friendly sources of energy so the mines are slowly being repurposed as museums and places offering amazing experiences. And despite being a small country, Slovenia has given the world several outstanding scientists. One of them is Herman Potočnik Nordoong who made sure that his life's work could be seen in these parts as well.
