GENERAL USEFUL INFORMATION

Documents

Before leaving home, please ensure that your passport and visa (if needed) are valid. It is best to have a copy of the front page (with your photo and passport number) with you kept in a separate location from your passport, in case your passport gets lost or stolen.

Please check visa regulations with the appropriate foreign consulates at least 90 days prior to your departure.

Currency

The official currency in Croatia is Croatian kuna (KN) and all prices are quoted in kuna. We recommend that you exchange some money into Croatian kuna before you come or at the airport when you arrive. At some point, ATM machines will be accessible. For spending money (meals, guide tips, beverages) we suggest an allowance of 200 euros per person.

In case you miss your flight, or are unable to arrive in Dubrovnik on time for any reason, please call your booking agent.

Baggage

Many airlines impose a maximum weight limit of 23 kg. See your airline's website for luggage weight and size restrictions. For your comfort we recommend you to travel as light as possible. One main piece, preferably a soft lockable bag for easy handling, a rucksack or hold-all would be most suitable.

Airline Information

Please review your airline tickets carefully and reconfirm your international flights 72 hours in advance. Please note that you should check in for your international flights 3 hours prior  to scheduled departure.

Insurance

We recommend you to purchase trip insurance although all our guests are insured by our local insurance company. In addition, if you need medical assistance or evacuation during the trip, Elite Travel cannot absorb these fees.

Gratuity

We believe that tips should reflect good service and your satisfaction with the guide/cruise manager, crew and overall tour. Crew gratuities are equally distributed among the crew. Tipping is voluntary and completely at the discretion of individual trip participants. Your own currency or Croatian kuna is acceptable.

Tipping Policy

Suggested - per person:

  • Cruise Manager (may or may not act as a guide): EUR 4-6 (USD 5-7) daily; for example at the end of a 8-day cruiser amounts to EUR 35 (USD 42 per person for your Cruise Manager)
  • Crew (all boat services and assistance with luggage): EUR 2-3 (USD 3-4) daily
  • Local guide (offers in-depth information at specific locations; there may be many guides along a tour program): EUR 1-2 (USD 2-3 per half day of sightseeing)
  • Restaurants & Cafes: If not included, tip 10%-15% of the check, depending on the quality of service (Restaurants in Europe generally include a service charge, but tipping is usual and a common practice)
  • Taxis: Tip up to 10% of the fare (We recommend you book taxis via your hotel reception and prenegotiate taxi fares to avoid unpleasant surprises at the end of the journey)

Weather

The summers are typically warm and sunny. Rain is always a possibility in Croatia so it is essential to bring adequate rain wear and a jacket in case of inclement weather.

Clothing Suggestions

Dress code on our cruises is casual and comfortable.

We suggest:

Clothing – few lightweight, easily washable items for travel and daily wear, swimwear, sun hat with brim, warm sweater for the evenings

Outerwear – lightweight rain jacket, waterproof and breathable

Footwear – sturdy walking shoes for sightseeing excursions, water shoes

Travel Accessories – sunglasses, sun block and lip balm, personal first aid kit (including any medications you use), mosquito repellent, small backpack, beach towel

Optional Accessories – camera

Meals on board

Breakfast will be served in a rich buffet style. A selection of complimentary fresh fruit is available all day long.

Light lunch is served buffet style and includes a selection of salads, cold and warm dishes. Dinner is served on a three course basis which often includes fish or seafood.

Guests are kindly asked to inform the Agency upon confirmation of booking or as soon as possible of any dietary preferences, such as diabetic, gluten free, vegetarian, vegan etc. Our galley team will make reasonable efforts to accommodate these requests.

Gourmet Experience

Occasionally excellent local and private restaurants will be available during the lunch time and dinner. They have received excellent feedback from previous guests for their value for money and we strongly recommend trying their specialties to all those interested in discovering authentic Croatian food. The cruise manager will be happy to make reservations and give suggestions.

Internet Connection – WI FI

We are glad we can offer our guests the convenience of free Wi-Fi service on board. Please note that Internet connection used is cellular service and connection might be unreliable during some stages of the cruise. For that reason reception sometimes might not be possible or connection speeds might drop. Skype calls will work in bigger towns on the route. Connection provided is best used for checking emails or accessing news portals. Wi-Fi connection can be accessed in the salon or from the rear lounge of the upper deck.

Swimming opportunities

Depending on weather and season, there will be several stops during the cruise in secluded and peaceful bays where the boat will drop anchor. Guests who prefer to swim off the beach will also have ample opportunities to do so during the cruise, since the boat will often be docking close to beaches, easy to reach on foot.

Noise level and quiet

As the boat is explicitly acoustic all guests are asked to behave accordingly and respect the night peace that officially starts at midnight. Since the boat will be docking for the night in ports of call of varying liveliness and buzz, especially in the months of July and August you can expect a certain level of noise coming from the shore and other boats in the harbor. Noise level usually drops by 12:00PM. Still, sometimes there are festivities such as Patron saint's day and similar, which often last long into the night. Elite Travel is unfortunately unable to influence the noise level in any of the ports of call.

Maritime Law

Captain is responsible for the ultimate safety and comfort of the vessel and its passengers. It is within the Captain's jurisdiction to change the sequence of stops, ports if necessary due to inclement weather conditions, high or low water levels, dock and lock schedules, technical reasons etc. The Captain has the right to remove unruly passengers, quarantine the ship in case of disease and similar. Therefore, although unlikely, certain changes in schedules may happen. Though we expect to provide sightseeing of all of the major attractions listed in our cruise program, there is always a possibility that the sequence of touring may be altered to take into account the operating hours at museums, galleries and monuments. Shore excursions may be changed in response to sailing conditions and other factors.

Safety

Ship is equipped with life jackets for each guest and crew member. Upon embarkation your cruise manager will brief you on the safety measures and steps to be taken in case of an emergency. Life jackets can be found under the bed in your cabins. Ship also has a small boat or inflatable safety raft that is used in case of an emergency. Fire extinguishers are located at critical points on the boat.
