For more than twelve years, Andreas Caminada (3 Michelin stars and 19 GaultMillau points) has hosted the Schanstein Castle Restaurant Hotel . He always succeeds in surprising his guests with his culinary creativity. This is also the case with his new project, his second restaurant brand "IGNIV by Andreas Caminada" and the associated new gastronomic concept. However, elaborated by the top chef, it is implemented by a young, passionate team led by Silvio Germann (1 Michelin star and 16 GaultMillau points), in the former gourmet restaurant "Äbtestube" of the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz .

The "IGNIV" (Romansh for "Nest") is a place of the senses that focuses on the sharing of culinary, pleasure and time - a refreshing and young concept with an upscale and product-oriented cuisine. In particular, it is also about a feeling of life: with friends and acquaintances a lasting enjoyment experience experienced, together from the different menu components select and assemble a meal, which is finally served in pots and plates as Sharing Dishes.

Also the interior was given great attention. The ubiquitous attention to detail leads to a modern yet very comfortable atmosphere. The renowned Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola was able to create this hedonistic atmosphere. With high-quality materials, she created a nest character for the "Nest" concept, creating a combination of comfort and well-being.

Silvio Germann. A young, talented chef, who worked for several years with Andreas Caminada in the locksmith's kitchen and was thus able to acquire the DNA of the Bündner. From the very beginning, he has been involved in the implementation of the new food concept, bringing the philosophy of the "IGNIV" to the plate with great joy and skill. The renowned gastronomic guide GaultMillau 2017 honored the restaurant with 16 points and celebrated its chef Silvio German as a "discovery of the year in German-speaking Switzerland".

Francesco Benvenuto. He is a host of passion, which he has already shown through his previous activities in the former "Abbeubeube". The gastronomic concept of «IGNIV» strengthens it in its own culinary philosophy: eating is the joy of being together.

Very soon after his cookery in Chur, Renato Wüst found the way to the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz. Since 1978, Renato Wüst has passed many stages of his cooking run at the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz. He is constantly interrupted by stages at well-known kitchen masters in St. Moritz, Munich, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore or Perth. 

Since the early 1990s, Wüst has been responsible for the development of the kitchens at the Grand Resort, and is today the owner of 2 large kitchens and 4 satellite kitchens. 60 cooks, 8 pastry chefs, 7 cooks, and an impressive number of assistants, who are responsible for the Bel-Air restaurant (15 GaultMillau points), the Namun restaurant (13 GaultMillau points) In the Olives d'Or and Zollstube restaurants, as well as in the Inroom Dining, the Kursaal and the bars of the Grand Hotels for guests' wellbeing. 

Philosophy

With the new clubhouse (starting from April 29, 2017), a new golf restaurant will be presented to members of the golf club, golf lovers and also the culinary enthusiasts.

New name

In addition to the new appearance of the restaurant, this also introduces a new name. From the golf restaurant the "gladys". The name goes back to Miss Gladys Thomson. It was marked on the oldest competition game, held in the Bad Ragaz Golf Club, as the winner of the Ladies Challenge Cup in 1908 and 1909. The name is therefore an homage to the history of the prestigious club established in 1905, as well as a symbol for the further development in golfing - after all, women were not as strongly represented in golfing at the beginning of the 20th century as they are today.

14 GaultMillau points

Something has changed: in autumn the Gastroguide GaultMillau has decorated the golf restaurant with an additional point. Kitchen chef Robert Hubmann is therefore delighted with his motivated team to be able to pamper guests from now on with 14 GaultMillau points. At the heart of its cuisine are still the best food from local and international producers. Raw products produced with respect for man and nature are the ingredients from which the chef conjures up honest dishes and full taste with love and passion. For Hubmann, his creations are matched with old-fashioned with new, fresh and according to the season. Fruit, bear's garlic and morel from the edge of the fairways of the square can already land in the kitchen pot - it can not get any fresher.

The bar concept of the club house is also new. In addition to excellent wines, the "gladys" offers a varied cocktail menu as well as a smokers' lounge with an exceptional cigar menu. The "gladys" is the ideal meeting place for a golfing day on the extended sun terrace, the restaurant, the bar or the Smokers Lounge with balanced cuisine and refreshing drinks, excellent wines or unusual drinks.

Variety is the difference in "vision". The kitchen is fresh and cheeky, but you can still feel the regionalism and tradition of its creations. Hofmann is no less challenging than taking in the kitchen of his guests. "Who does not remember eating at home, with a mother or a grandmother, without a smile, but full of love," the boss explains the feeling that he wants to convey to guests at the Hotel Schloss Wartenstein. For this he uses excellent basic products, which he likes most directly from the region.
 

Although you always talk about cooking, you end up with motivation and hard work to inspire you. The motivation for Reto Hofmann and his team is the challenge. Important for good food are not only the love of the profession but also excellent basic products. Even the best cook in the world can not cook an excellent menu without happy cows, which give him milk, butter and cream in the best quality. He needs farmers who do their jobs in wind and weather and take care of nature. They give him beef, veal, pork and poulets that could naturally grow up. The dishes are refined with herbs from the own garden - with love cultivated by Anja Remmert.

Cross-country skiing
