Private cars are already 5 km before Zermatt in the parking in Täsch holidays. From Täsch, the Matterhorn Gotthard railway takes guests to Zermatt every 20 minutes. On request, a taxi service is also available. When arriving at Zermatt railway station, cross the Bahnhofstrasse and take the  Gornergratbahn , which takes you to the 3100 Kulmhotel Gornergrat in about 40 minutes.

Double room breakfast and dinner included 

The Monte Rosa is not a single summit but the huge massif between the two glaciers that you see under your window. The two summits on the Monte Rosa are to the north left and the Dufourspitze to the right. The Dufourspitze is the highest peak in Switzerland and the entire German-speaking area. After the sun has sunk on the Gorner Ridge, the Dufourspitze begins to glow pink.

The rooms on the south side offer a view of the huge Monte Rosa massif and the giant glaciers. 
Each room bears the name of one of the four thousand, grouped around the 3100 Kulmhotel Gornergrat. A piece of rock from the top of the namesake graces the room wall and brings the Bergriesen really within reach. 
The furnishing with a lot of Arvenholz is modern. Each room is 15 m 2large, has a double bed consisting of two single beds (200 x 90 cm), a private bathroom with shower / toilet, hairdryer, work desk, tea / coffee station, radio and telephone.

The view of the Matterhorn is legendary. From your Matterhorn double room, you will even have the view from where you are sleeping. Framed by the Breithorn to the left and the Dent Blanche to the right, “ds’Hore”, as the locals call “the Horn”, stands exactly in the west. In April and October the setting sun plays with the mountain and at one point lands right on the very tip of the famous giant.

The rooms on the west side of the hotel have a sensational panoramic view of the Matterhorn.
Each room bears the name of one of the four-thousanders grouped around the 3100 Kulmhotel Gornergrat. A piece of rock from the peak of the mountain after which a room is named decorates one of the walls of the respective room and virtually brings the mountain within close reach.
The interior of the room, with lots of Swiss pine, is modern. The size of each room is 15 square metres, and the room features a double bed consisting of two single mattresses (200 × 90 centimetres wide), its own bathroom with a shower/WC, hairdryer, desk, tea and coffee station, radio and telephone.

Our junior suites in the towers of the Kulmhotel Gornergrat provide you with an absolutely exceptional Matterhorn experience.
The suites are named after the mountains facing them: Matterhorn and Monte Rosa. A piece of rock from the peak of the mountain after which a room is named decorates one of the walls of the respective room and virtually brings the mountain within close reach.

Once it becomes cool outside, diners can sit inside in the pleasant and cosy atmosphere of the restaurant “vis-à-vis. Sitting in “vis-à-vis”, the impressive mountains are omnipresent, viewed through the restaurant’s panoramic windows.

STARRY SKIES

Seen from the Gornergrat, the night sky is studded with stars, sparkling like diamonds. For the guests at the 3100 Kulmhotel Gornergrat, it is an intoxicating experience, and a place with a magical attraction for astronomers. The Gornergrat planetarium is now uniting knowledge-thirsty experts with interested members of the public in their passion for stargazing.

Stargazing on the Gornergrat

The dry air and the remote location mean visitors even have the chance of seeing the Milky Way and the planets with the naked eye. The “Gornergrat Planetarium” project was launched five years ago, establishing the new observatory in the south tower of the Kulmhotel and inviting the public to join scientists in their exploration of the heavens.

Stargazing for groups

As a research station high up in the Alps, the planetarium and the observatory are not open to the public, but the researchers are happy to make exceptions for school classes and groups of ten people or more. Interested?

Dining with the Stars

A glittering evening – gown and dinner suit not required. Enjoy an exquisite buffet dinner and fondue chinoise, and, weather permitting, you will have a spectacular view of the night sky, with an expert astronomer as your guide and entertaining stories to set the mood.

Space Trip
